                                                           Why be invovled?

Parent involvement is crucial to the health and well-being of your child.  As a parent, you are the most important influence in your child's success in school and in life.  In this role, you have a fresh opportunity every day to get involved with your child.  Parent involvement in children's education allows kids to perform better in school, and navigage more easily some of the challenges of growing up, such as bullying.

                                                        Ways to be invovled?

  1. Spend time with your child.  Talk, listen and have fun.  By spending time you are creating the opportunity to: share your values, create a stronger bond with your child, learn more about your child, and let them know you love them.
  2. Offer praise and encouragement.  Parents play a dominent role in influencing a child's confidence and motivation to become a successful learner.  Cultivate a warm and supporting home where education is valued.
  3. Make time for reading.  Whether you read to your child or read with your child, schedule a regular reading time daily.
  4. Plan TV viewing. Use TV wisely by limiting TV time (especially on school nights) and helping to select appropriate programs.  Provide time to discuss images and stories that kids have seen.
  5. Vote.  Be aware of issues and candidates that promote education and suppor issues that affect your child and school.
  6. Discuss your children's progress with teachers.  Read: 10 Ways for Parents to Help Teachers
